The Final Selection for the Paranormal Review Photography Competition

The hunt to find the photograph that best captures the ‘spirit’ of the paranormal continues.

The competition received a high number of exceptional photographs and final judging was immensely difficult.

A total of 16 were shortlisted out of 60 entrants and from these my expert panel selected the strongest images.

Out of the 16 shortlisted, 10 have made it through to the final.

They are, in alphabetical order:

The winner and runners-up will be announced on Friday, 1 September, at the Society for Psychical Research’s annual conference being held at the De Vere Horsley Estate, Leatherhead, Surrey, UK.

Dr Leo Ruickbie, FRHistS, FRAI, Associate of King’s College, is a Visiting Fellow in Psychology at the University of Northampton and the author of six books, most recently Angels in the Trenches: Spiritualism, Superstition and the Supernatural During the First World War. Actively involved in the parapsychological research community, he is a Council Member of the Society for Psychical Research and a Professional Member of the Parapsychological Association. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute. In 2021, he won third prize in the essay contest organised by the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies.

    When will the finalists be informed who won? After it was publicly announced?
    I know that many finalists are waiting!

      The winner’s, runners’-up and finalists’ photographs have been published in the Paranormal Review. I’ll not be publishing the rest, either on or offline. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the competition – thanks for taking part!
